In this book, we meet Jones, the common man, and his enemies Hudge and Gudge. These three fascinating characters (or, really, "types," as this is a work of non-fiction) are the means by which Chesterton exposes what is wrong with the world, and gives us a glimpse of what things would look like if made right.

I have called this book "What Is Wrong with the World?" and the upshot of the title can be easily and clearly stated. What is wrong is that we do not ask what is right.

As a primer for our discussion of this great book, we will also be reading Chesterton's short essay, "The Real Issue," from The Spice of Life and Other Essays.
