Join the Society for our monthly meeting in April when we will discuss Chesterton's epic poem, The Ballad of the White Horse. This brilliant piece contains many great lessons for our modern age, such as in the following lines:

"And though skies alter and empires melt,
This word shall still be true:
If we would have the horse of old,
Scour ye the horse anew."

Join the Society on March 19, 2023 at 6:00 PM at Ivy Hall to discuss a collection of Chesterton's essays and articles dealing with matters of apologetics and his conversion: The Well and the Shallows.

Dale Ahlquist describes how there is a sense of urgency, and a bit of a shift away from the comic tone with which many Chesterton readers are familiar, in this work: "As always, he takes on all subjects, writing about anything and everything, but not only are these essays more specifically Catholic than his other works, there is clearly a sense of foreboding. He warns in the introduction that there are not as many jokes as his readers are used to. There is an urgent and somber sense that there are very dark and desperate days ahead, and that among other dangerous developments, the worst war that the world has ever seen is just over the horizon."
