July 24: Manalive - A New Reading

For our July meeting, we will return to a work we've read in the past, Manalive - Chesterton's short novel about the fascinating Innocent Smith. You can purchase the book at the Chesterton Society's shop. It is available for free online as well. Finally, it is also available at Amazon in various formats, including audiobook.

We will be reading with a specific focus this time around. At our last meeting, we discussed how notable it is that so many of Chesterton's core ideas are threaded throughout all of his works, and how echoes of the same themes arise again and again. This is not only the case with his non-fiction works, but his fiction as well. And so, this time reading Manalive, we will focus in particular on how we see Chesterton's philosophical and religious ideas manifested in the story.
