Join the Society for a special meeting on May 15th, 2022 where we will discuss Chesterton and the art of argumentation. This is a sort of preview of the talk that our Society President, Joe Grabowski, will be presenting at the 41st Annual Chesterton Conference later in the summer! For this meeting, we will be using a special reading packet that can be downloaded from the site. Note: you will need a password to access the download page, which will be received by those who RSVP; even those who cannot attend but want the packet should RSVP "no" in order to get access to the packet. If you need the password, send us a note. More meeting info and a form to RSVP, below the jump!

After a bit of a haitus owing to the malady that shan't be named, the Society will be resuming our regular meetings in April 2022! We will meet at Ivy Hall on Sunday, April 10, at 6:00 PM. Details are below. For this meeting, it'll be mostly social in nature: reconnecting, catching up, (hopefully) greeting new members, talking about what we've all been reading in our own spare time, and so forth. You can RSVP for this meeting below the jump! Join the Society for our next monthly meeting to discuss Chesterton's early essay collection, The Defendant! You can read the book online, or purchase a copy either via the Chesterton Society or, you know, that online shopping site. Find more details and/or RSVP below the jump... Chesterton was famously an advocate of recovering the true meaning of Christmas in a commercialized society. But now with Halloween being the second-largest economically impactful popular celebration, we will explore the question: What resources does Chesterton give us for recovering the true meaning of All Hallows' Eve? The AssignmentOur task for this next meeting is a sort of open-ended scavenger hunt through Chesterton's writings! In a pinch, we also invite insights from Chesterton-adjacent sources: e.g., Belloc, Wells, Shaw, Lewis, Tolkien, and so forth. Look for things that address:
RSVP for the meeting below. If you're unable to join us in person, feel free to share some thoughts in the comment thread on this post. Join the Society as we discuss The Secret of Father Brown, the fourth of Chesterton's collections of stories featuring the priest-sleuth. We will read all the stories, but the collection isn't too long. You can purchase a copy of the Father Brown stories from the Chesterton Society, but it appears to be on backorder. Alternatively, you can find a copy wherever books are sold, purchase an Audible audiobook version, or else read the book online from Project Gutenberg Australia.
Kindly RSVP for the meeting below! |
